Quick Match Participation Rules
Quick Matches are a free game mode designed to introduce players to Shinri Trial’s gameplay and atmosphere. This format permits limited changes in canon to make matches more flexible and accessible. However, players must still follow the established logic of the setting and portray their characters in a canon-consistent way.
1. General Provisions
1.1 Language
All roleplay and other communication must be in English. Individual phrases in other languages are permitted when used as part of roleplay.
1.2 Administrator Discretion
The Head Administrator may issue penalties for conduct not explicitly covered by these rules.
1.3 Changes to the Rules
Project management may revise these rules at any time. Players will be notified of changes through the official Discord server.
1.4 Appeals and Complaints
An appeal must be submitted within 48 hours of the penalty being issued. The same deadline applies to complaints submitted to Support: the complaint must be written and sent within this period.
1.5 Scale of Enforcement
These rules are enforced on Shinri Trial Quick Match servers. Some violations may also result in penalties across the project’s social media communities.
1.6 Types of Penalties
The Shinri Trial administration may apply the following penalties for rule violations:
- Warning — a formal warning issued through the in-game WARN system.
- Kick — removal from the current match, with all experience earned during that session forfeited.
- Ban — suspension from Quick Match matchmaking.
- Hard ban — suspension from all Shinri Trial game servers.
1.7 Quick Match Penalty System
Automatic penalties escalate with each subsequent violation, as shown in the table below.
The penalty-level counter resets completely 24 hours after the first penalty.
| Level | Declining a Found Match | Leaving During a Match |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Warning | Warning |
| 2 | Warning | 30-minute suspension |
| 3 | 3-minute suspension | 2-hour suspension |
| 4 | 10-minute suspension | 12-hour suspension |
| 5 | 30-minute suspension | 24-hour suspension |
| 6 | 3-hour suspension | — |
| 7 | 24-hour suspension | — |
1.8 No Abuse of Spectator Status
Reports submitted by spectators will only be reviewed when they concern serious rule violations requiring administrative intervention. Reports involving minor violations, personal disputes, or debatable gameplay situations may be rejected.
1.9 Minor Violations
The administration may reject a report without issuing a penalty when the violation is minor, caused no significant consequences, and had no meaningful effect on the match.
2. Accounts
2.1 One Account per Player
Each person may have only one account.
2.2 Account Sharing and Trading
Sharing, selling, trading, or otherwise transferring an account to another person is prohibited.
2.3 Inappropriate Profiles
Nicknames must not be provocative, offensive, sexualized, or confusingly similar to the names used by Shinri Trial team members.
2.4 Ban Evasion
Using another account to bypass a penalty is prohibited.
3. In-Game Chat
3.1 Aggression, Threats, Provocation, and Toxicity
Direct or veiled insults, threats or implied threats, toxic behavior, provocation, attempts to start conflicts, and overt pressure outside roleplay are prohibited. Deliberately harassing another player during roleplay is also prohibited.
3.2 Disrespectful References to Relatives
Players must not mention another person’s relatives in an insulting, mocking, or provocative context.
3.3 Direct Abuse of Relatives
Insults, threats, humiliation, or any other hostile or aggressive statements directed at another person’s relatives are prohibited.
3.4 Hate Speech and Discrimination
Statements, symbols, images, or actions intended to demean, insult, promote hostility toward, or discriminate against a person or group based on race, sex, gender, religion, nationality, ethnicity, social status, disability, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic are strictly prohibited.
3.5 Advertising and Self-Promotion
Direct or indirect promotion of third-party projects, websites, communities, or social media accounts is prohibited. Players must also not promote their own resources if they are unrelated to Shinri Trial.
3.6 Spam and Chat Flooding
Repeated messages and other forms of excessive or disruptive chat activity are prohibited.
3.7 Audio Spam
Playing loud, harsh, or distracting sounds is prohibited. Soundboards and similar tools must not be used to create noise, spam, or troll other players.
3.8 Politics
Political discussions, slogans, campaigning, and similar political content are prohibited.
3.9 Inappropriate Content
Sexual, shocking, excessively violent, or otherwise disturbing content is prohibited. Sexual roleplay, graphic descriptions of extreme violence, sexual acts, arousal, or other scenes likely to make participants uncomfortable are not permitted.
3.10 Voice-Changing Software
Using voice-changing software during a match is prohibited.
4. Roleplay
4.1 Exceeding the Kill Limit
Players cooperating with another player must not be involved in more than two kills in total.
4.2 Damage Without RP Justification (FD)
Dealing damage to another player without a valid roleplay reason is prohibited.
Valid reasons for dealing damage include:
- serious insults directed at your character or someone close to them;
- direct threats against your character;
- self-defense or protecting another character from an immediate threat.
4.3 Non-Roleplay Behavior (NonRP)
Actions, roleplay, or statements that contradict the character’s established behavior, the current situation, or the atmosphere of the project are prohibited. Players must act consistently with their character while considering the circumstances, their character’s condition, available options, and the likely consequences of their actions.
Overtly absurd behavior that turns roleplay into a farce or breaks other players’ immersion is also prohibited.
NonRP includes:
- behavior inconsistent with the situation or the character’s current condition;
- using in-game chat to discuss technical issues, lag, project rules, or real-life events during an active roleplay situation;
- illogical, inconsistent, or inappropriate actions performed through game mechanics or roleplay commands;
- conduct that turns roleplay into a joke and disrupts other participants;
- abusing cooperation or a numerical advantage to search, restrain, or otherwise act against players without sufficient roleplay justification.
4.4 Powergaming (PG)
Characters must not display unrealistic, excessive, fantastical, or physically impossible abilities, or ignore limitations imposed by the game environment, logic, realism, and common sense.
4.5 Metagaming (MG)
Sharing, receiving, or using information obtained outside the active game—through PM, SMS, LOOC, Discord, or any other external source—to influence in-game actions or character decisions is prohibited.
4.6 Leaving Roleplay (LeaveRP)
Leaving an active RP situation by disconnecting from the server or going AFK without the consent of the other participant is prohibited.
4.7 Public Killing
A player must not intentionally commit a murder when the number of witnesses in the room exceeds the killer’s ability to eliminate them within the kill limit established by Rule 4.1. Because a player cannot technically kill more than two people in a chapter, attacking a group is illogical when the first kill would leave two or more living witnesses and make the killer’s exposure inevitable.
How this rule applies depends on whether the killer has an accomplice:
- Solo killing: A murder is prohibited when two or more independent witnesses who are not accomplices are present at the location.
- Killing with an accomplice: A murder may be committed in the presence of three people if one of them is the killer’s accomplice under a prior RP agreement. The accomplice is not treated as a witness capable of immediately exposing the killer. The killer and accomplice share the kill limit under Rule 4.1 and may not be involved in more than two kills in total during a chapter.
4.8 Forcing Outcomes in Your Favor
Players must not automatically grant their character success, an advantage, or a dominant outcome without using the game’s chance system—/try or /roll—and without giving other participants an opportunity to respond.
This applies to conflicts, difficult or competitive situations, and attempts to avoid the consequences of one’s own actions.
4.9 Game Mechanics Take Priority Over Roleplay Actions
When a roleplay action conflicts with the actual capabilities or limitations of an available game mechanic, the mechanical system takes priority.
4.10 Meta-Cooperation
Coordinating with other players based on out-of-game agreements, personal relationships, or information not obtained through roleplay is prohibited.
4.11 Restraining Another Player
Using restraints on another player—including tape, a bag over the head, cable ties, handcuffs, or similar items—without a strong roleplay reason supported by prior events is prohibited. A player must also not be held against their will for more than five minutes in total during a single RP situation if that situation is not progressing.
Valid reasons for restraining another player include:
- the player has dealt damage to you;
- the player has seriously insulted you or a close friend;
- the player poses an immediate threat to others;
- the restraint is being used in preparation for a subsequent murder;
- the player is actively resisting.
4.12 Stunning Without a Valid Reason
Stunning another player without a logical roleplay justification is prohibited. Any use of a stun must be consistent with the character’s actions and the current circumstances.
Valid reasons for stunning another player include:
- the player has dealt damage to you;
- the player has seriously insulted you or a close friend;
- the player poses an immediate threat to others;
- the stun is being used in preparation for a subsequent murder;
- the player is actively resisting.
4.13 Maximum Number of Accomplices
A player may have no more than one accomplice.
5. Administration
5.1 Interfering with an Administrator
Players must not interrupt, obstruct, or ignore an administrator while they are performing their duties.
5.2 Disrespecting the Administration
Insulting or otherwise disrespecting members of the administration is prohibited.
5.3 Impersonation
Impersonating an administrator or any other member of the Shinri Trial team is prohibited.
5.4 Abuse of the Report System
The following are prohibited:
- false reports;
- duplicate reports;
- reports submitted as a joke or for the purpose of trolling.
5.5 Deceiving the Administration
Attempting to deceive the project administration for personal benefit is prohibited.
6. Serious Violations and Abuse
6.1 Personal Information
Collecting, publishing, or threatening to publish another player’s personal information is prohibited.
6.2 Concealing Bugs or Violations
Deliberately withholding information from the administration about violations, bug abuse, vulnerabilities, exploits, or malicious activity that could harm players or the project is prohibited.
6.3 Defamation and Reputational Harm
Deliberate attempts to damage the reputation of Shinri Trial, its administration, or members of its community are prohibited. This includes:
- knowingly spreading false or misleading information;
- presenting statements out of context in a misleading way;
- deliberately undermining trust in the administration without evidence;
- repeatedly and publicly attempting to discredit the project.
6.4 Third-Party Files, Software, and Client Modification
Using, storing, launching, distributing, or attempting to use any third-party files, software, modifications, scripts, libraries, injectors, or other tools that may alter the game client, server, gameplay, interface, network communication, or project assets—or provide an unfair advantage—is prohibited.
Prohibited tools and activities include, but are not limited to:
- cheats, trainers, injectors, memory editors, debuggers, anti-cheat bypasses, spoofers, and tools that emulate player input;
- custom DLLs, binary modules, third-party loaders, hooks, client-side script hooks, or any replacement or injection of code into Garry’s Mod or Shinri Trial content;
- modifying, adapting, decompiling, unpacking, extracting, replacing, repackaging, or distributing project assets, models, textures, sounds, maps, UI files, Lua files, or other materials without written permission from senior project management;
- modifying or replacing client files, Workshop add-ons, configurations, Lua scripts, interface elements, or visual assets to access information unavailable to regular players or make gameplay easier;
- using scripts, macros, autoclickers, automation tools, binds, or other software that performs actions on the player’s behalf, improves reaction times, simplifies minigames, interactions, movement, aiming, or information gathering, or bypasses gameplay restrictions;
- interfering with network traffic, packets, connections, or client-server synchronization, including attempts to replace, intercept, analyze, or modify transmitted data;
- exploiting vulnerabilities in the client, server, maps, assets, add-ons, or gameplay systems, or concealing the discovery of such vulnerabilities;
- distributing, sharing, selling, advertising, storing, or discussing methods for bypassing protection systems, modifying the client, decompiling assets, or using cheats, injectors, and other prohibited tools.
A violation does not require the player to gain an actual advantage. Any attempt to interfere with the client, project files, anti-cheat system, gameplay systems, or network communication is sufficient.
Only standard Garry’s Mod files, officially published Shinri Trial content, and third-party add-ons, programs, or settings explicitly approved by the administration are permitted. Approved third-party tools must not affect the fairness of gameplay.
Refusing an inspection, deleting files, concealing evidence, providing false information, or obstructing an investigation may result in a permanent ban with no right to appeal.
6.5 Harm to the In-Game Economy
Any action that disrupts, exploits, or otherwise harms the project’s in-game economy is prohibited.
6.6 Bug Exploitation
Deliberately using bugs, faults, vulnerabilities, or unfinished mechanics to gain an advantage, bypass gameplay restrictions, or harm the gameplay experience is prohibited.
6.7 Exploiting Loopholes in the Rules
Using gaps, ambiguities, or technical or logical loopholes in the project rules to gain an advantage, bypass restrictions, or avoid responsibility is prohibited.
